Trip to MEXICO!

A special thanks to Mike Wells for the information he shared with us about the trip to Mexico. For those wanting to go to assist the Mexican people and help this summer, there are a few things that need to be done ASAP!

* A non-refundable check of $50 needs to be handed in by March 1st. This check should be made out to Utah Rotary District 5420. Please also put June Mexico Trip on the check. This money is for trip insurance and the District needs to pay for each participant.

* Anyone who wants to go to Mexico and didn't attend the meeting needs to contact Mrs. Thompson, Annette Barber, or Tere Moore ASAP! There will not be any travel arrangements made until the deposits are in.

* If you don't have a passport you need to go to the Court House and apply for one. This does take time so don't delay!!!

* Please remember to start saving some extra spending money!

Those going to Mexico will stay in 2 or 3 bedroom condos on the beach. There will be adults in every condo. Each group (club) will be responsible for their own breakfasts and lunches. There will be group dinners at night with one dinner at a local restaurant one evening.

Mike has arranged a statewide fundraiser for all Interact clubs. Hopefully there will also be some local fundraisers for students who need extra help.

Members can check the utahinteract.com website to see a video of last years project and updated information about this year's trip will be coming out soon.

We know the people who live in the area where the work will be done are very appreciative of our efforts!!!

If you have further questions please contact an adult leader.

Pinkies for POLIO!

The Interact Club participated in Pinkies for Polio. The students and staff at Box Elder were asked to help those who have not been vaccinated against polio. A donation of a dollar bought 2 vaccinations. Thanks everyone for your support in this effort. Many people, especially children were helped because of you!

This event was so popular all the tickets for this night were gone within days of the announcement. The Interact Club along with other clubs from the high school were asked to participate and serve dinner. Those who attended had a wonderful time! Thanks Box Elder for such an amazing production!

On Saturday March 13, 2010 we participated in our First Home Makeover. Armed with shovels, rakes, and cleaning cloths we arrived at our first destination. We raked the grass, washed the windows, and also did various other chores. Those who were able to come really enjoyed themselves. It was nice being able to serve someone in our community!

Our Induction/Inauguration Ceremony was held on January 21st. After 10 years of hopes and dreams the Interact Club was finally formed. The speakers for the night were, Brad Barber - Rotary Club President, Linda Brown - Faculty Advisor, and Tyson Haderlie - Interact President.

We were encouraged to not only be a member of Interact, but an active member. What we get out of Interact is up to us. Our attitude and determination to serve will be the deciding factor. We must be willing to do our best so we will have a positive impact in our community as well as internationally.

After the Candle Lighting Ceremony refreshments were served. We enjoyed lots of yummy fruit along with brownies. The best part was the fudge topping!

Thanks to all who helped make this night memorable. Also, thanks to the Rotary Club for their support!!!
